New Industries Alliance, GLORIA, Ministry of Science and Technology demonstrated strong R&D energy at the BIO Asia–Taiwan 2021
The physical exhibition of the annual event of “BIO Asia–Taiwan 2021” was scheduled to be held in July, however, due to the pandemic, the exhibition was put on hold but was finally held on November 4-7 at the Taipei Nangang Exhibition Center, Hall 2. The “National Yang Ming Chiao Tung University Theme Pavilion” was launched at Booth S914 at 11A.M. on November 4 to demonstrate the latest spotlight of industry-university-institute-medicine cooperation in order to increase more opportunities for technology matching.

This was the first year that National Yang-Ming University attended the exhibition with National Chiao Tung University after their merger. NYCU not only launched the largest theme pavilion with three main themes: “AI Intelligence Solutions and Digital Medicine, Health & Functional Food Materials, New Drug Development and Regenerative Medicine,” but also set up 15 booths at the exhibition venue, which is more than previous years. The manufacturers stationed at Center for Industry-Academia Collaboration (CIAC) of NYCU jointly exhibited the latest biomedical R&D achievements with the “New Industries Alliance, Global Research & Industry Alliance (GLORIA), Ministry of Science and Technology”, with the goal of contributing to the commercialization of novel technologies and promote the GLORIA that facilitates applications of technologies resulting from academic research.
The presentation in the NYCU Theme Pavilion was well attended with enthusiastic exchanges.
The cross-university alliance “New Industries Alliance, Global Research & Industry Alliance (GLORIA), Ministry of Science and Technology,” was reformed from the “GLORIA-NYCU”. For the first time this year, it cooperated with the Center for Industry-Academia Collaboration (CIAC) of NYCU to jointly exhibit in the National Yang Ming Chiao Tung University (NYCU) Theme Pavilion. They jointly held a technology presentation conference on the afternoon of November 4 to present the latest research and development achievements of 9 professors from NYCU, National Taiwan Ocean University, National Ilan University, and National Chung Cheng University including: “The Development and Evaluation of Pre-clinical Dementia and Neuroinflammation Drug of Neuroimmune Cells Imaging” by NYCU Professor Tsai, Chin-Wu; “Automated Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) of Brain Tumors Using AI” by Professor Wu, Yu-Te and Guo, Wan-You, the Director of Department of Radiology, Taipei Veterans General Hospital; “Image-guided Needle Puncture and Whole Eye Positioning System” by Professor Kuo, Wen-Chuan; “Taiwan Smart Sensor: I+NOSE - Ultra-Low Power Consumption Silicon Nano-belt Gas Sensor Array Chip and Gas Sensor System” by Professor Sheu, Jeng-Tzong.

Additionally, at the product technology presentation conference on the afternoon of November 6, Professor Tsai, Ying-Chie, the “authority on probiotics” from the Institute of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology of NYCU, was invited to share the important role of probiotics in precision medicine and the human body. In recent years, Laurel Enterprises Corporation has developed healthy and functional foods for the elderly, and also introduced “Precise Demand for Healthy Diets”. Professor Kuo, Jean-Cheng of the Institute of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology of NYCU, introduced Fibronectin from Chia Son Cell Tech. Corp. Rharmon Global Biomedical Technology Co., Ltd. introduced a “Next-Generation Biochip Sensor Platform”; TheThings Co., Ltd. introduced “Comprehensive Services of Food Safety Management”; and AgriTalk Technology Inc. introduced the “AIoTtalk Smart Agriculture Platform.”

During the BIO Asia-Taiwan 2021 exhibition, the New Industries Alliance, Global Research & Industry Alliance (GLORIA), Ministry of Science and Technology jointly exhibited in the NYCU Theme Pavilion with the Center for Industry-Academia Collaboration (CIAC) of NYCU for the first time. In addition to the real integration of academia with industry, the latest biomedical R&D achievements were presented at the technology presentation conference during the exhibition. Through the platform of BIO Asia-Taiwan 2021, NYCU and the New Industries Alliance, Global Research & Industry Alliance (GLORIA), Ministry of Science and Technology contributed toward the commercialization of novel technologies and promoted the application of academic research technology by not only showing highlights but also increasing opportunities for technology matching.
